About DNA Banking and Profiling

We’ve met many grandparents who want to do everything they can to ensure a good future for their children and grandchildren. We encourage such grandparents to consider our DNA Banking and Profiling services, which allow them to have a permanent source of genetic identification for themselves and their loved ones.

Our Banking service allows you to store a DNA sample in our secure, safe facility for 15 years. We can also run a DNA test on the sample to produce a record of your genetic profile. Like all our services, our DNA Banking and Profiling service is confidential, and only you and those you authorize will have access to the DNA samples or DNA Profiles.

Why would individuals want to have their DNA samples banked? There are many reasons in which DNA samples or profiles could be useful:
  • You can prepare for future inheritance claims by having your DNA samples ready for a relationship test (such as a grandparentage or paternity test) in case a person makes a claim on your estate.
  • It provides a permanent record of you or your loved ones’ genetic profile. As children grow, their outward appearances can change significantly—their hair and eye color, height, and weight. Their DNA, however, does not change.
  • It is a valuable resource when identification becomes necessary. In the unwelcome event that your loved one is abducted, gets lost, or runs away, DNA is the most reliable, and often only, method of identification available.
  • An essential medical genetic history resource for the treatment and prevention of genetic diseases. A number of genetically inherited diseases can be identified by testing DNA.

To order our DNA Banking and/or Profiling service, use our online order form or call 1-888-362-9814. Sample collection can be done either privately (at home) or using a legal Chain of Custody, required if you want any test results done on your samples to be admissible in court.
